You may have only an hour – if even that – for your midday break, but there’s plenty you can do to recharge for the rest of your day.
1. Unplug
At lunchtime, put your smartphone away. Instead, meet a friend for lunch, read a few chapters of a book or take a walk outside.
2. Connect with nature
Is there a park nearby? Take a walk and enjoy the sights and scents. Spending time in nature can reduce stress and improve your mood. Not only can a daily walk lower your risk of diseases, it can also boost your brain power and improve your mental state.
3. Enjoy your creativity
On your break, unwind by working on a craft project, write in a journal or listen to your favourite music.
4. Practice mindfulness
Find a private spot or a close your office door and focus on being mindful, which just means being still and aware of the moment. Simply sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes, focus on your breath and allow your mind to quiet itself.
